Founded in Kent, Washington in 2008, World CNG was born out of World One Performance, an aftermarket high performance vehicle tuning shop and racing business. The decade of experience in designing and engineering racing vehicles and manufacturing high-precision parts afforded by World One Performance provided for a smooth transition to the alternative fuel vehicle sector.
In 2009 World CNG was awarded an American Reinvestment and Recovery Act grant through the U.S. Department of Energy to, in part, facilitate the Western Washington CNG Taxi Incentive Program. This Western Washington Clean Cities Coalition-led program provided funding for independent taxi drivers and co-ops that otherwise might not be able to afford the energy-efficient, cost-effective transportation solutions offered by World CNG conversion systems. World CNG used this grant program, along with incentives for airport shuttle providers, to effectively launch the business, converting more than 230 vehicles in Western Washington using World CNG’s EPA-certified proprietary technology.
World CNG’s success in the Puget Sound transportation market and strong customer relationships in key markets evolved into even greater business and growth opportunities. In 2011-2012 World CNG expanded its operations beyond its Washington State headquarters, opening wholly-owned conversion facilities in Chicago and Las Vegas. In that same period the company also partnered with reputable automotive dealerships and service facilities in Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and California to establish a network of World CNG-trained and authorized installers that perform natural gas vehicle conversions using World CNG technology.
With over 1000 natural gas vehicles outfitted with World CNG technology currently in use across the United States, World CNG is a nationally-recognized leader in the development, fabrication, and installation of CNG conversion systems.
